AiroFoam™ is a high-impact, shock absorbing foam material, designed to protect your biggest devices from drop damage using state-of-the-art impact-absorbing technology. This clever foam has been developed to deliver extreme protection in the sleekest package possible. 

What’s in AiroFoam™? 

Traditional protective materials are thick and stiff, but we’ve constructed AiroFoam™ to be thin and flexible. Here’s how: 

AiroFoam™ is a non-newtonian fluid. This means it doesn’t behave like normal liquids. Under stress, its viscosity - how thick or runny it is - changes. Fun fact: lots of everyday materials are also non-newtonian fluids, like custard, cornstarch, and shampoo. We don’t recommend that you try to wash your hair with AiroFoam™ though. 

AiroFoam™ is made of a series of exceptionally intelligent molecules. They gather to form strong hydrogen bonds as soon as they experience an impact. This turns the material from a soft, malleable foam into a hard, protective shell which guards against shock. The particles rush together to protect your device.

The hydrogen bonds between the molecules temporarily break when impacted which consumes huge amounts of energy, absorbing the impact energy which would otherwise hit your device. When the impact ends and the energy has dissipated, the material returns to its soft resting state. It’s this change under stress which makes AiroFoam™ a non-newtonian fluid. There is no limit to the number of times this change can occur, or to the number of times AiroFoam™ can protect your device from impact damage. Clever. 

How does AiroFoam™ work?

  1. AiroFoam™ is made of intelligent molecules which are arranged so the material is soft when at rest.
  2. Upon impact, the molecules gather to form strong hydrogen bonds, turning the material from a soft foam into a hard, protective shell which guards against shock.
  3. The hydrogen bonds between the molecules temporarily break when impacted, which consumes huge amounts of energy. This absorbs the impact energy which would otherwise hit your device.
  4. When the shock has been absorbed, the molecules become free, and the material returns to its original soft state.

Why did we develop AiroFoam™?

Our most protective cases for phones feature AiroShock™. This is a fantastic high-impact material and highly protective, but only suitable for smaller devices. This is because it is a solid - the amount you would need to protect a larger device would make the case far too heavy. We knew we needed to find a way to bring Mous’s extreme protection to even larger tech items, so we innovated. And we developed AiroFoam™.

Because of the ways the molecules in AiroFoam™ are arranged, it’s less dense so it’s lighter - perfect for larger devices that need larger amounts of protective materials. This means that you don’t have to compromise on your MacBook Pro sleeve. It is extremely protective without being bulky.

What are the benefits of AiroFoam™?

  • Tough Protective Shell

AiroFoam™ is made of intelligent molecules which gather and stiffen when they experience an impact. When AiroFoam™ hits a solid surface, all the molecules gather together and form a tough, protective shell around your device. The change in intelligent molecular bond pattern turns AiroFoam™ from a soft and malleable foam into a hard, protective shell which protects your MacBook Pro. 

  • Impact Absorption 

When impacted the hydrogen bonds between the molecules in AiroFoam™ temporarily break. This consumes huge amounts of energy which would otherwise hit your MacBook Pro. The energy which would usually damage your laptop is absorbed by the reaction and keeps your MacBook safe and unharmed in its sleeve. 

  • Geometric Design 

AiroFoam™ is also geometrically designed to protect your MacBook from drops and falls. The geometric pattern in which the foam is installed is implemented in such a way that it speeds up the rate of deceleration when your laptop hits the ground. This reduces the impact on your MacBook and the less impact, the less damage to your device.
